Description
Finally!
This to me is the most challenging portrait I have ever done. The first one I did in coffee! I'm not sure about adding white poster color for the beard and highlights cause I know I can still get it done in coffee alone. But I admit it has some benefits. It made the skin stand out more and well, look like a skin. At first, I felt like the tone value of the skin competes with the beard which made the face look pale. That quite bothered me and had to to wash a darker shade on the skin about three times. I hope I didn't make Bob too dark than is necessary...
Thanks to for allowing me to use his photo of his friend. This amazing shot not only captures the eyes. Behind the image of this person lies a thought-provoking story which I believe whoever sees my rendition should also see where it came from.

Materials:
A3 size watercolor paper
coffee
white poster color for highlights on hair and beard
pencil for outline
***
The painting and the model...
The one that Bob received has been retouched a bit as some areas had faded and some areas got stuck to the trace that covered it. I was too stubborn to fix it soon and so that was the consequence. I also changed the signature to an ambigram of my name.
